Edison-Miller Family Records

These records consist primarily of correspondence to and from Edison's second wife, Mina Miller Edison; her children, Madeleine, Charles, and Theodore; and her stepchildren from Edison's first marriage to Mary Stilwell—Marion Estelle, Thomas Alva, Jr., and William Leslie. Other correspondents include Mina's parents, Lewis and Mary Valinda Miller; her sisters Jane (Jenny), Mary, and Grace; her brothers Ira, Edward, Robert, Lewis, John, and Theodore; and various other members of the Miller and Edison families.

Many of the letters in this series are from the Thomas Edison National Historical Park archives and were published in Parts III, IV and V of the microfilm edition. (Images for most of the family documents in Parts IV and V are not yet available, but their database records can be browsed and searched.) Other substantial collections of family correspondence can be found at the Charles Edison Fund, Newark, N.J., the Edison-Ford Winter Estates, Fort Myers, Fla., the Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, N.Y., and in private collections owned by E. Thomas Arnn and David E. E. Sloane.

Numerous other documents by and about the Edison and Miller families can be found in the "Family" folders in the Document File for Parts I–IV and the Edison General File for Part V. Numerous letters from family members to Henry Ford and his secretaries can be found in Thomas A. Edison Family Correspondence in the archives of the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village Research Center, Dearborn, Mich.
