This notebook was used from November 1878 until the early 1890s. All of the entries are by Charles Batchelor The first 73 pages cover the period November 1878-September 1879 and pertain to experiments on Gramme generators and magnetism, to the design of Edison's first generator, to filament coating and other lamp-related experiments, and to telephone experiments using the electromotograph. Pages 73-77 contain miscellaneous lamp and dynamo experiments recorded between 1884 and 1887. Beginning on page 78 there are a few dated entries from December 1890 and many undated entries from the 1890s relating to ore milling experiments, including notes taken from mining and scientific works about cadmium and palladium. The book contains 112 numbered pages. Pages 1-60 were numbered by Batchelor The remaining pages were numbered by an archivist. Several pages have been cut out of the book.
