This scrapbook covers the period July-October 1881 and contains newspaper clippings concerning electric lighting and the Paris Electrical Exhibition of 1881. Included are descriptions and illustrations of electric lighting equipment; articles about Edison's school for electrical instruction at 65 Fifth Avenue, New York City; and clippings about the purchase of property on Pearl Street by the Edison Electric Light Co. There are also many articles about the Paris Exhibition and about plans to illuminate the Paris Opera House with the Edison electric light. Most of the clippings are in French. The front cover is labeled "July 19th/81 No.1." The spine is labeled "July to October 1881" and "1622 1712." The book contains approximately 100 unnumbered pages.
