This notebook covers the period April-September 1879. Most of the entries are by Edison, Charles Batchelor, and Francis Upton. A few entries are by John Kruesi. Included are notes, calculations, and drawings of generators; calculations about electric power distribution; notes and drawings of the telephone; and notes by Upton on repairing lamp problems in the stateroom of the Jeannette, a ship being outfitted for the New York Herald's arctic expedition. The book contains 104 numbered pages followed by about 200 unnumbered pages.
