This scrapbook contains clippings primarily relating to the death and funeral of Lewis Miller (1829-1899). Included are clippings from The Chautauquan; the New York Tribune and other major New York City newspapers (Miller died at the New York Post-Graduate Hospital on February 17, 1899 following an operation); Midwestern newspapers such as the Akron Beacon Journal, Akron Daily Democrat, Akron Sunday World, Cleveland Leader, Cleveland Press, and South Bend Daily Times; and Methodist newspapers such as the Christian Advocate, Central Christian Advocate, and Zion's Herald.
Also included is a circular from Aultman Miller & Co. announcing Miller's death; resolutions of sympathy adopted by the faulty and students of Mount Union College; a circular announcing memorial services at Mount Union for Miller on March 21, 1899; and eulogies on Miller by Dr. Frank C. Haddock, Bishop John H. Vincent, and Mount Union College President Albert B. Riker, which were published in The Dynamo, the Mount Union student newspaper.
In addition, there are a few clippings about other family members, including articles regarding the death of Theodore Miller, who was mortally wounded at the Battle of San Juan Hill in June 1898; the death of Jane Miller Marvin in November 1898; and Robert A.
