This November 1878 letter by Edison is addressed to Joseph Norman Lockyer, a prominent British astronomer whom he had met a few months earlier during a solar eclipse expedition at Rawlins, Wyoming. The letter contains Edison's opinions about newspaper reporters and the future of electric lighting.
