This folder contains correspondence to and from Edison's patent attorneys, along with other correspondence relating to patent applications, patent litigation, and other patent matters. Included also are other patent-related documents, such as patent applications, caveats, preliminary statements, and a few printed patents.
Approximately 90 percent of the documents have been selected. The following categories of documents have not been selected: duplicate copies of correspondence; printed copies of Edison's U.S. patents (see http://edison.rutgers.edu/patents.htm); copies of Edison's claims; other inventors' claims, specifications, and patents; correspondence and other documents concerning non-Edison patents, except when they relate directly to Edison and his work; routine bills and receipts from patent attorneys; routine correspondence from patent attorneys regarding accounts and fees.
Application files for Edison's domestic and foreign patents can be found in the Patent Series. Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
