This folder contains correspondence and other documents pertaining to the canvassing of prospective towns for the installation of central stations. The areas visited by the canvassers were primarily in the East and in the Midwest. Much of the correspondence is by canvassers Charles H. Cooke, Paul D. Dyer, and George W. Wilber. There are also numerous letters by Charles F. Richardson, who prepared maps of central station districts. Documents relating to the canvassing of one specific station can be found in the folder for that station.
All of the documents have been selected except for a map of St. Paul, Minnesota and a printed circular describing the "Principal Cities on . . . [the] Louisville and Nashville Railroad." Courtesy of Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
