This folder contains correspondence and other documents relating to the commercial and technical development of Edison's alkaline storage battery and its use in electric vehicles. Several documents are written by Edison or contain his marginalia. Included are letters regarding customer development, advertisements, contracts, and agreements. There are references to the marketing of Edison storage batteries in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain, as well as reports concerning the use of electric vehicles by Harrods, Ltd., in London. Some of the material pertains to visitors at the West Orange laboratory. The correspondents include Edison's personal representative and chief engineer Miller Reese Hutchinson, his former chief engineer Donald M. Bliss, Robert A. Bachman of the Edison Storage Battery Co., electrician and experimenter Walter E. Holland, William C. Anderson of the Anderson Electric Car Co., F. E. Richards of the Public Service Electric Co., and Philip D. Wagoner of the General Vehicle Co.
