[The following note describes a series of folders and has no documents attached to it. For that reason, a "no Documents found" message will appear if the "List Documents" button at the bottom of the note is used. To see the document lists for the folders described here, use the "Which Series Notes?" button to enter the Series Notes or use the "Next Text" button to move to the first item in the series.]
These loose items relate to a variety of subjects, including the development, manufacture, and use of storage batteries, phonographs, and phonograph records. Also included is material pertaining to experiments with various chemical processes, acoustic and electromagnetic devices, concrete construction, and the development of a synchronous-play phonograph and kinetoscope called the kinetophone. Many of the items are by Edison. There is also material by John F. Ott, George E. Small, Albert F. Wurth, and other employees.
The notes and drawings are arranged in three groups: (1) Dated Notes and Drawings; (2) Undated Notes and Drawings; and (3) Oversize Notes and Drawings.
Dated Notes and Drawings. These folders are arranged by year. Within each folder, the dated items appear chronologically, followed by undated Edison material plausibly attributed to that year and then by undated non-Edison material.
Undated Notes and Drawings. This folder consists of undated items unassignable to any specific year but probably dating from the period 1899-1910.
Oversize Notes and Drawings. This folder consists of blueprints, linen drawings, and sketches by draftsmen and other Edison employees that are too large to be reproduced at the standard reduction ratio of 14:1.
